Fun sunny weekend.  Went bouldering on Rat Rock.  Didn’t send the East face traverse like I wanted to, but got to a place of progress that felt good.  There was this wise old climber guru man who was really pushing me to keep going.  When I felt my strength slipping I’d hear “NO LIFT YOUR LEFT LEG UP DAMNIT!” so by sheer willpower (or fear) I kept going.  hahaha guess that’s one way to teach!

Still can’t believe how much I took the weather for granted in California.  I felt like a kid in a candy store soaking up the sun.

28 year old Rachel Sterne heads NYC Government 2.0 roadmap

The things I love in life: urban planning, NYC, technology, data analytics, and ambitious women all rolled into one.  Here she talks about O’Reilly’s concept of thinking about “government as a platform”.  She challenges us to imagine the city as Facebook or Twitter with API’s.  In doing so you open the platform of governance, offer transparency to citizens, and drive forward innovation through community participation.  Pretty awesome in my book.

I’ve seen a few gov 2.0 efforts and hackathons taking place at General Assembly (my coworking space).  One of them was to re-imagine the nyc.gov website and create a different prototype.  The other was to create an app to improve public transit.
